Seamless page navigation in Power BI: The Navigation Pane Series Part 1

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

Interested in learning more about Power BI Report Design? Then the Power BI Report Design Bootcamp is for you!

Want to build a customised navigation pane but running out of ideas? Or maybe you just want a cool navigation pane to make your reports more user friendly?

Well, we have all been there... Because I love to build customised navigation panes (I really do love it!), I decided to share a few ideas with you.

This will be part of a series of posts full of navigation pane ideas :)

For the first one I decided to take some inspiration from the Power BI Portal. I'm sure you'll recognise the design right away!

My main trick for customised navigation panes is the fantastic trio: Bookmarks, Buttons and the Selection Pane!

If you're not familiar with Bookmarks...I could right an entire essay on how you use them, but there are tons of amazing tutorials already online. So if you want to explore a bit more I have some recommendations to get you started.

This tutorial by Radacad is amazing to learn how to use this trio:

You can also check the official documentation available online:

If you liked this design you can download the sample file from my GitHub account:

Cheers!!
